AMD Radeon 8050S Review
The AMD Radeon 8050S is the smaller of AMD's two flagship Strix Halo integrated GPUs, a 32-compute-unit RDNA 3.5 iGPU built into the lower Ryzen AI Max SKUs, offering most of the big-memory advantages of the higher-end 8060S at a slightly reduced compute budget.
Like its 8060S and 8065S siblings, the real story here is the quad-channel LPDDR5X feeding it, which lets it treat a big chunk of system memory as usable graphics memory for local AI model inference in a way no traditional laptop iGPU has managed before. Gaming performance is respectable for an integrated part but still well short of a genuine discrete mobile GPU.
Performance & Real-World Use
32 compute units (2048 stream processors) on quad-channel LPDDR5X give the 8050S enough throughput for 1080p gaming at moderate settings and, more notably, enough addressable shared memory to run larger local AI models than a typical discrete laptop GPU's fixed VRAM would allow.
Comparison to Alternatives
Its sibling in the same family, the Radeon 8065S also being added here, has more compute units and sits a tier above this chip within AMD's Strix Halo lineup. Against a genuine discrete part like the catalog's AMD Radeon RX 7600S, the 8050S trails meaningfully in sustained gaming frame rates since it shares its power and bandwidth budget with the CPU cores on the same die.

Expert rating6.1 / 10
A capable entry point into AMD's large-memory Strix Halo iGPU family, strong for local AI inference relative to its class, modest for sustained gaming.
Best for
- Budget Strix Halo laptops running local AI inference
- Light 1080p gaming without a discrete GPU
- Thin laptops prioritizing battery life over gaming power
Not for
- Sustained AAA gaming at high settings
- Workloads needing dedicated VRAM isolated from system RAM
- Buyers wanting the top Strix Halo iGPU tier (get the 8060S/8065S)
