About Consumercarts

Consumercarts compares computer hardware on published specifications, benchmark results and retailer prices. The catalog covers processors, graphics cards, memory, storage, motherboards, coolers, monitors, peripherals and the repair parts people actually search for.

We are independent

No manufacturer pays for a placement, a score or a spot in a comparison. The site earns from affiliate links to retailers, which are marked and explained on the affiliate disclosure page. A link that pays us nothing and a link that pays us something look identical in our tables, because what a product is ranked on is its specifications, not its commission.

What we do that a spec sheet does not

Manufacturers publish the same fact under different names, in different units, at different granularity. One memory kit is listed as "128GB (2x64GB Kit)", another as "128". One processor lists "TDP", another lists "Base Power", a third writes "105W" where its neighbour writes "125 Watts". None of those compare until somebody makes them comparable.

That is most of the work here. One name per fact, one unit per column, one meaning per field. When a column mixes units, or a field means the kit total on one product and the per-module figure on another, the comparison is worse than useless because it looks right.

We would rather say nothing than say something false

A percentage only appears where the arithmetic supports one. A score only appears when there is enough data behind it. A benchmark only appears when its licence allows us to publish it. The methodology page sets out each of those rules and why it exists.
