The ATEN US224 is a budget 2x4 USB 2.0 peripheral sharing switch for splitting a keyboard, mouse and other USB devices between two PCs.
It's the USB 2.0, lower-cost sibling to the US234: same idea of sharing four USB devices between two hosts via a wired remote selector, just at USB 2.0 speeds instead of 5Gbps USB 3.0.
Basic USB Sharing
The US224 shares up to four USB 2.0 peripherals between two computers using a wired remote port selector, in a compact plastic housing. It's hot-pluggable and includes overcurrent protection, and works across Windows, Linux, Mac and Sun platforms.
Where It Fits
If you don't need USB 3.0 throughput (this isn't for external SSDs or fast peripherals), the US224 is a cheaper way to get the same 2-computer, 4-device sharing pattern as the US234. There's no video switching here either, it's peripherals only.
