One of the earliest all-in-one eGPU boxes on the market, GIGABYTE's RX 580 Gaming Box paired an already-installed Radeon RX 580 with a compact Thunderbolt 3 chassis so buyers could skip choosing and fitting their own card entirely. It predates the RTX 3080 Gaming Box in the same lineup by a few years and targets a much more modest performance tier, aimed at 1080p gaming and light creative work on ultrabooks rather than 4K.
Overview
Launched in 2018, the RX 580 Gaming Box bundles a factory-installed Radeon RX 580 8GB card inside a small Thunderbolt 3 enclosure with its own internal power supply, dual-fan cooling, and rear USB and video outputs. There's nothing to assemble: plug in the Thunderbolt cable and the GPU is available to the host laptop immediately, at the cost of never being able to upgrade the card inside.
