Who each one is for
it is not the pick for anyone needing 4K60 capture, the GC531 caps recording at 4K30. It is equally the pick for live-commerce and video-shopping streamers wanting DSLR-quality color at a lower price than the GC535. It is the wrong buy for gamers wanting a gaming-focused capture card, this is explicitly positioned for live-commerce/DSLR use. The same goes for anyone who needs a capture device that works identically across many different software platforms without driver installs. It is not the one for solo streamers who want a companion app with overlays and scene switching built in. Our rating of the AVerMedia Streamer Ultra (5/10): A plausible budget pick for live-commerce streamers who don't need more than 4K30 capture, but it's untested by independent reviewers and clearly the junior sibling to the GC535. Our rating of the Magewell USB Capture HDMI Gen 2 (8/10): A production-grade capture box that works identically in every piece of software, with no drivers to chase.
