Who each one is for
The ASUS ROG XG Station 2 is the one to take for desktop-replacement setups where portability doesn't matter and buyers prioritizing PSU headroom over compactness, though it is the wrong buy for laptop users wanting pass-through charging and space-constrained desks. It is equally the pick for owners of large triple-fan cards from the GTX 10/RTX 20 era. Buy the RIITOP OCuLink eGPU Dock for absolute budget buyers with a spare PSU on hand and DIY-minded handheld/mini-PC modders, though it is not the pick for buyers wanting an all-in-one built-in PSU solution and anyone prioritizing brand support and warranty history. Our rating of the ASUS ROG XG Station 2 (6.5/10): overbuilt in a good way for its era, huge PSU headroom for large cards, at the cost of size and no laptop charging. Our rating of the RIITOP OCuLink eGPU Dock (4.5/10): the cheapest way into OCuLink eGPU, but a bare-bones product from a lesser-known brand with no built-in PSU convenience.
