AMD Instinct MI100 vs Intel Arc A380M: Comparison
AMD Instinct MI100 vs Intel Arc A380M: the memory bus width difference
Start with memory bus width, because it is the widest measured gap between them: AMD Instinct MI100 4096 bit against Intel Arc A380M 96 bit, 98% in favour of AMD Instinct MI100. Boost clock runs the same way, 1502 MHz on the AMD Instinct MI100 versus 2000 MHz on the Intel Arc A380M, another win for Intel Arc A380M. There is a split on gpu brand as well, AMD on the AMD Instinct MI100 versus Intel on the Intel Arc A380M. They differ on board partner too, Reference on the AMD Instinct MI100 versus Intel on the Intel Arc A380M. Tier is not the same on both, Datacenter on the AMD Instinct MI100 versus Arc 3 Mobile on the Intel Arc A380M. Memory type is closer, HBM2 on the AMD Instinct MI100 versus GDDR6 on the Intel Arc A380M. They differ on architecture too, CDNA on the AMD Instinct MI100 versus Alchemist on the Intel Arc A380M. Shader units is not the same on both, 7680 on the AMD Instinct MI100 versus 1024 on the Intel Arc A380M. There is a split on pcie generation as well, PCIe 4.0 on the AMD Instinct MI100 versus MXM-A on the Intel Arc A380M.
AMD Instinct MI100 vs Intel Arc A380M: which one fits your build
The AMD Instinct MI100 is the one to take for buyers comparing AMD's official reference specifications and researching a chip before choosing a board-partner card, though it is the wrong buy for overclocking-focused enthusiasts (reference clocks only). It is the wrong buy for buyers wanting a specific retail card with cooler and warranty details.
