Who each one is for
The HP Victus 15-fa is the one to take for budget 1080p gaming and easy RAM upgraders, though it is the wrong buy for 1440p/4K gaming. The MSI Katana 15 HX B14WGK suits esports players prioritizing 144Hz over 4K resolution, though it is not built for buyers who need Thunderbolt or an external GPU dock. It is equally the pick for 1080p gamers who want RTX 50-series graphics at a mainstream price. It is the wrong buy for anyone who plans to add a second storage drive later, only one M.2 slot. Our rating of the HP Victus 15-fa (7/10): the Victus 15 pairs a Core i5-13420H with a GeForce RTX 30 series GPU with 6GB of VRAM and a 15.6-inch 1920 x 1080 IPS display at 144 Hz. It has one free DDR5 slot with support up to 32GB, which makes it a sensible entry gaming laptop that can grow. The 8GB of RAM is tight for modern games and multitasking, so plan an upgrade.
