AMD Ryzen 5 5600X vs Intel Core i5-14600K: Comparison
What is the difference between AMD Ryzen 5 5600X and Intel Core i5-14600K?
The gap that matters here is l2 cache: AMD Ryzen 5 5600X 3 MB against Intel Core i5-14600K 20 MB, which puts Intel Core i5-14600K 85% ahead. Blender Cycles (CPU) backs the spec sheet up. Intel Core i5-14600K scores 300 to 151 over 101 runs, 50% clear. L3 cache runs the same way, 32 MB on the AMD Ryzen 5 5600X versus 24 MB on the Intel Core i5-14600K, another win for AMD Ryzen 5 5600X.
Which should you buy, AMD Ryzen 5 5600X or Intel Core i5-14600K?
Take the AMD Ryzen 5 5600X for gaming-focused desktop builds wanting excellent value from Zen 3's per-core gains and large cache. Avoid it for buyers needing more than 6 cores for heavy multi-threaded productivity work, the 8-core Ryzen 7 5800X handles that better. Take the Intel Core i5-14600K for mainstream gaming and productivity desktop builds wanting strong Raptor Lake performance on the widely-supported LGA 1700 platform. It is not the one for buyers wanting Intel's most power-efficient current architecture, the newer Arrow Lake Core Ultra 5 245K offers better efficiency on a fresh platform. Our rating of the Intel Core i5-14600K (8.4/10): the Intel Core i5-14600K is a strong midrange gaming chip with 14 cores, offering good multithreaded speed for the price.
Where the two are identical
Everything else lines up. Performance cores, socket status, form factor, market segment and smt enabled read the same on both, so those are not worth weighing. They match on 6 further specifications as well.
Which is cheaper, AMD Ryzen 5 5600X or Intel Core i5-14600K?
The Intel Core i5-14600K asks 7% more, $319 against $299 for the AMD Ryzen 5 5600X.
