AMD Ryzen 7 2700 vs AMD Ryzen 7 3700X: Comparison
Ryzen 7 2700 vs Ryzen 7 3700X l3 cache compared
The gap that matters here is l3 cache: Ryzen 7 2700 16 MB against Ryzen 7 3700X 32 MB, which puts Ryzen 7 3700X 50% ahead. P-core boost clock is not the same on both, 4.1 GHz on the Ryzen 7 2700 versus 4.4 GHz on the Ryzen 7 3700X. They differ on p-core base clock too, 3.2 GHz on the Ryzen 7 2700 versus 3.6 GHz on the Ryzen 7 3700X. There is a split on release year as well, 2018 on the Ryzen 7 2700 versus 2019 on the Ryzen 7 3700X. They differ on microarchitecture too, Zen+, Ryzen 2000 Series on the Ryzen 7 2700 versus Zen 2, Ryzen 3000 Series on the Ryzen 7 3700X. There is a split on memory type as well, DDR4-2933 on the Ryzen 7 2700 versus DDR4 on the Ryzen 7 3700X.
Which should you buy, Ryzen 7 2700 or Ryzen 7 3700X?
Take the Ryzen 7 2700 for content creation and productivity desktop builds wanting genuine 8-core Zen+ performance at an efficient power draw. It is not the one for buyers wanting maximum clock speed at this core count, the 2700X offers a modest step up. Take the Ryzen 7 3700X for content creation and gaming builds wanting strong 8-core, 16-thread performance at efficient 65W power draw. It is the wrong buy for buyers who need integrated graphics, this chip requires a discrete GPU.
Where the two are identical
The common ground is wider than the gap: total cores, performance cores, efficiency cores, total threads and tdp are identical here. They match on 9 further specifications as well.
Frequently asked questions
Is the Socket the same on the Ryzen 7 2700 and Ryzen 7 3700X?
