AMD Ryzen 7 3800XT vs Intel Core Ultra 7 265K: Comparison
AMD Ryzen 7 3800XT vs Intel Core Ultra 7 265K: the l2 cache difference
The gap that matters here is l2 cache: AMD Ryzen 7 3800XT 4 MB against Intel Core Ultra 7 265K 36 MB, which puts Intel Core Ultra 7 265K 89% ahead. Measured rather than claimed: in Blender Cycles (CPU) the Intel Core Ultra 7 265K returns 478 against 191 over 277 runs, a 60% lead.
AMD Ryzen 7 3800XT vs Intel Core Ultra 7 265K: which one fits your build
Take the AMD Ryzen 7 3800XT for gaming and productivity desktop builds wanting the highest-clocked 8-core Zen 2 performance available. It is not the one for buyers with access to Zen 3 chips, those offer a real architectural step up over even the fastest Zen 2 silicon. Take the Intel Core Ultra 7 265K for buyers wanting strong multi-core productivity throughput and improved efficiency over Intel's 14th Gen at a lower price than the 285K. It is the wrong buy for buyers prioritizing maximum gaming frame rates, AMD's 3D V-Cache chips generally lead in gaming-specific benchmarks. Our rating of the Intel Core Ultra 7 265K (8.3/10): the Intel Core Ultra 7 265K offers near-flagship multithreaded performance for less money, a sensible pick for mixed work and play.
Where the two are identical
The common ground is wider than the gap: performance cores, p-core base clock, form factor, market segment and unlocked multiplier are identical here. They match on 1 further specification as well.
Which is cheaper, AMD Ryzen 7 3800XT or Intel Core Ultra 7 265K?
They cost within a few percent of each other, $394 versus $399 when we last looked.
