The gap that matters here is l3 cache: AMD Ryzen 7 5700X 32 MB against Intel 11th Gen Intel Core i5-11600K 12 MB, which puts AMD Ryzen 7 5700X 63% ahead. Tdp is not the same on both, 65 W on the AMD Ryzen 7 5700X versus 125 W on the Intel 11th Gen Intel Core i5-11600K. They differ on integrated graphics too, No on the AMD Ryzen 7 5700X versus Yes on the Intel 11th Gen Intel Core i5-11600K. They differ on socket too, AM4 on the AMD Ryzen 7 5700X versus FCLGA1200 on the Intel 11th Gen Intel Core i5-11600K.
Who each one is for
Buy the AMD Ryzen 7 5700X for mainstream desktop builds and everyday productivity, though it is not built for extreme overclocking (unless K/X-series) and workstation-class multi-threaded workloads. Take the Intel 11th Gen Intel Core i5-11600K for gaming-focused desktop builds wanting unlocked overclocking on a 6-core Rocket Lake chip at a lower price than the 8-core options. It is not the one for buyers needing more than 6 cores for heavy multi-threaded productivity work.
Which is cheaper, AMD Ryzen 7 5700X or Intel 11th Gen Intel Core i5-11600K?
At the last price check the Intel 11th Gen Intel Core i5-11600K was $262 and the AMD Ryzen 7 5700X $299, a 14% premium.
Where the two are identical
Everything else lines up. Efficiency cores, socket status, market segment, smt enabled and memory channels read the same on both, so those are not worth weighing. They match on 3 further specifications as well.
Frequently asked questions
