Intel Core i5-12490F vs Intel Core i5-13490F: Comparison
What is the difference between Core i5-12490F and Core i5-13490F?
There is no decisive spec gap here. Total cores splits them by a margin most buyers will never feel, Core i5-12490F 6 against Core i5-13490F 10. Add l3 cache to that, 20 MB on the Core i5-12490F versus 24 MB on the Core i5-13490F, and the pattern holds. Socket is not the same on both, FCLGA1700 on the Core i5-12490F versus LGA 1700 on the Core i5-13490F. They differ on release year too, 2022 on the Core i5-12490F versus 2023 on the Core i5-13490F. Microarchitecture is not the same on both, Alder Lake on the Core i5-12490F versus Raptor Lake on the Core i5-13490F.
Who each one is for
Buy the Core i5-12490F for desktop gaming with a discrete GPU and budget-conscious builds, though it is the wrong buy for systems without a discrete GPU and HTPCs needing video output. The Core i5-13490F is the one to take for desktop gaming with a discrete GPU and budget-conscious builds, though it is not built for systems without a discrete GPU and HTPCs needing video output. Our rating of the Core i5-12490F (7.4/10): the Intel Core i5-12490F trims integrated graphics for a lower price, aimed at builds already running a discrete GPU. Our rating of the Core i5-13490F (7.4/10): the Intel Core i5-13490F trims integrated graphics for a lower price, aimed at builds already running a discrete GPU.
Where the two are identical
The common ground is wider than the gap: performance cores, tdp, integrated graphics, form factor and igpu are identical here. They match on 4 further specifications as well.
