Intel 10th Gen Intel Core i7 10850H vs Intel 11th Gen Intel Core i7 11800H: Comparison
10th Gen Intel Core i7 10850H vs 11th Gen Intel Core i7 11800H l3 cache compared
The gap that matters here is l3 cache: 10th Gen Intel Core i7 10850H 12 MB against 11th Gen Intel Core i7 11800H 24 MB, which puts 11th Gen Intel Core i7 11800H 50% ahead. Add l2 cache to that, 1.5 MB on the 10th Gen Intel Core i7 10850H versus 10 MB on the 11th Gen Intel Core i7 11800H, and the pattern holds. There is a split on socket as well, FCBGA1440 on the 10th Gen Intel Core i7 10850H versus FCBGA1787 on the 11th Gen Intel Core i7 11800H. There is a split on release year as well, 2020 on the 10th Gen Intel Core i7 10850H versus 2021 on the 11th Gen Intel Core i7 11800H.
Which should you buy, 10th Gen Intel Core i7 10850H or 11th Gen Intel Core i7 11800H?
Take the 10th Gen Intel Core i7 10850H for gaming laptops wanting genuinely high single-core boost clocks within a mainstream 6-core mobile chip. Avoid it for buyers needing 8-core multi-threaded capability, the i7-10870H and higher-tier chips offer more cores. Take the 11th Gen Intel Core i7 11800H for gaming and content creation laptops wanting genuine Tiger Lake H architectural gains over the previous Comet Lake generation. It is not the one for buyers wanting the absolute highest single-core clock speed, some Comet Lake chips reached higher peak single-core Turbo.
Where the two are identical
The common ground is wider than the gap: efficiency cores, tdp, integrated graphics, socket status and product line are identical here. They match on 5 further specifications as well.
