Who each one is for
Buy the Ryzen Threadripper PRO 3955WX for mainstream desktop builds and everyday productivity, though it is not built for extreme overclocking (unless K/X-series) and workstation-class multi-threaded workloads. The Threadripper PRO 7995WX is the one to take for studios rendering at massive scale and engineering teams running heavy simulation, though it is not the pick for gamers and anyone on a limited cooling or power budget. Our rating of the Threadripper PRO 7995WX (9.4/10): the Threadripper PRO 7995WX is the fastest multi-threaded consumer-adjacent CPU AMD sells, but its price and cooling demands make sense only for teams whose software actually scales to 192 threads.
