ASUS Zenbook Duo

Measurements come from NotebookCheck's review unit with the Core Ultra 9 285H, 32GB of RAM, a 1TB SSD and two 1920x1200 60Hz OLED screens (not the 3K 120Hz version).

The Intel Core Ultra 9 285H has 16 cores (6 performance and 10 efficiency), boosting to 5.4 GHz. It has the cores for 3D rendering, big builds and 4K timelines, not just gaming. Its NPU is rated at 13 TOPS for on-device AI features.

NotebookCheck measured about 24W of sustained CPU power in this chassis. Makers publish the chip rating, but this sustained figure is what long exports actually get. Across the 11 systems NotebookCheck has tested with the Intel Core Ultra 9 285H, it averages 1,068 points in Cinebench 2024 multi-core (range 740 to 1,194) and 127.3 single-core. Where this laptop lands in that range depends on how much power it lets the chip draw. The chip settles to about 24 W under sustained load, so it cannot deliver its full potential in this chassis.

PugetBench (creative apps). These are Puget Systems' public results for the Intel Core Ultra 9 285H in its standard test, pooled across every system it was tested in, so this laptop's power limits can move them up or down. Higher is better.

Graphics come from the integrated Intel Arc Graphics 140T. It handles video playback, photo edits and lighter or older games at modest settings.

Gaming (average across systems). These are NotebookCheck's average frame rates for the Intel Arc 140T across every system it has tested with this GPU, not this laptop alone. Power limits differ between laptops, so this one can land above or below the average.

Memory: fixed. 32GB of LPDDR5x-7467 is soldered to the board, so buy the amount you will need for the life of the laptop.

Storage: replaceable. One M.2 slot, already in use (M.2 2280), M.2 NVMe PCIe 4.0 x4.

Reaching the M.2 SSD means taking much of the machine apart. With the keyboard it weighs close to 1.8 kg and is nearly 2 cm thick, and there is no card reader.

The 14-inch OLED panel runs at 1920x1200 (162 pixels per inch) and 60Hz, with touch. NotebookCheck measured 362 nits with the near-infinite contrast OLED is known for. Color coverage is 99.8% sRGB and 100% P3, good enough for photo and video work. Response time is 1.4 ms, so motion stays sharp. The panel flickers at 480 Hz (PWM) at lower brightness, which matters if you are sensitive to it.

The second screen is a 14-inch 1920x1200 OLED at 60Hz with touch.

Both 14-inch OLEDs are the same panel, so windows can move between them with no change in scaling or color, though this configuration runs at 1920x1200 and 60Hz rather than the 3K 120Hz of the higher-end version. The panels use 480 Hz PWM dimming at 86 percent brightness and below, show strong reflections outdoors, and the default Native color profile looks oversaturated while the P3 profile is accurate.

Both screens run as normal Windows displays, so you can stack them, use them side by side or keep tools and chat on one while you work on the other.

The Duo can be used as a normal laptop with the keyboard sitting on the lower screen, as a tall two-screen setup with the screens stacked and the keyboard in front, or side by side like an open book, and a kickstand on the back holds it upright. Battery life is very good with one screen active at just over 11 hours of web browsing, and it still reaches a little over 8 hours at moderate brightness with both screens on, dropping to about 6 hours with both at full brightness.

NotebookCheck measured 39.8 dB(A) under load and 23.6 dB(A) at idle. That is quiet enough for a library or a meeting. In the Standard profile the fans often stay off during light work, while the Performance and Full Speed modes go past 50 dB(A) for only a small performance gain. The hottest surface reached 47.2 °C, warm enough to notice on your lap.

The battery is 75Wh, larger than 76% of the thin and light laptops we list. NotebookCheck got 11 hours 6 minutes of Wi-Fi browsing and 16 hours 54 minutes of video playback. A full charge takes about 1 hour 50 minutes.

Materials: Magnesium alloy chassis. At 1.65 kg it is heavier than 79% of the thin and light laptops we list. It measures 313.5x217.9x14.6-19.9 mm. A built-in kickstand on the underside props the body up at 40 to 70 degrees (ASUS figure); in book-style desktop mode the main screen tilts back slightly.

The full-size keyboard detaches and runs over Bluetooth on its own battery (ASUS quotes up to 24 hours), recharges automatically through pogo pins whenever it sits on the lower screen, and its 1.4 mm key travel, firm deck and quiet keys make it more comfortable to type on than many regular laptops. The backlight is white with three levels and can switch on by sensor.

The precision touchpad sits on the detachable keyboard, tracks accurately and has a quiet, damped click. Sign-in: IR webcam with Windows Hello face login.

It has 2x Thunderbolt 4, which runs docks, fast external drives and displays over one cable. It charges over USB-C.

Full list: 2x Thunderbolt 4 / USB4 USB-C (40Gbps, DisplayPort, Power Delivery), one on each side, 1x USB-A 3.2 Gen 1 (5Gbps), 1x HDMI 2.1, 1x 3.5mm combo audio jack, USB-C port for charging the detachable Bluetooth keyboard. Wireless: Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4.

The ASUS Zenbook Duo (2025) UX8406CA name covers several builds. Processors: Intel Core Ultra 9 285H and Intel Core Ultra 7 255H. Memory: 16GB or 32GB LPDDR5X on board, not upgradeable. Screens: Dual 14-inch FHD 1920x1200 OLED, 60Hz, touch; Dual 14-inch 3K 2880x1800 OLED, 120Hz, touch. Check the exact configuration on the listing before you buy.

No longer the current generation: ASUS has since released the Zenbook Duo UX8407 with Intel Panther Lake (NotebookCheck reviewed it in January 2026, and Amazon lists a 2026 model with the Core Ultra 9 386H and 144Hz 3K OLED screens).
