The Avocent SV240 is a 4-port VGA desktop KVM switch with a USB peripheral hub, the legacy-video predecessor to the DisplayPort/HDMI SV240DPH.

This is what buyers get when they want Avocent's enterprise reliability but don't need modern video standards - a straightforward VGA switch that costs nearly half of its DisplayPort/HDMI sibling because the video path is far simpler to build.

The VGA Predecessor to the SV240DPH

Sharing the same 4-port pushbutton chassis and USB hub as the Avocent SV240DPH, the SV240 sticks to VGA video, which is why it costs roughly half as much - simpler analog video switching is cheaper to engineer than DisplayPort/HDMI paths.

Enterprise Build on Legacy Video

For server rooms and NOCs that haven't migrated off VGA monitors, the SV240 offers the same Avocent support and reliability as the newer models without paying for video standards the environment doesn't use yet.
