Cable Matters 201478 USB-C KVM Switch for 2 Laptops, 1 HDMI Monitor Review

Cable Matters 201478 USB-C KVM switch shares one HDMI monitor, keyboard, mouse and USB peripherals between 2 USB-C/Thunderbolt laptops, with 4K@60Hz HDCP 2.2 video, EDID emulation, and up to 100W Power Delivery charging, switched by button, RF remote or hotkey.

Built for a two-laptop hot-desk where you want a single HDMI monitor to just work every time you switch - EDID emulation keeps the display from renegotiating, while 100W PD keeps whichever laptop is active charged.

Overview

Two USB-C/Thunderbolt laptops connect over USB4 cables to a shared HDMI monitor, keyboard, mouse and peripherals. Built-in EDID emulation and HDCP 2.2 support keep the display handshake stable across switches, and up to 100W of Power Delivery keeps the active laptop charging.
