Corsair CMK32GX5M2A4800C40 Review
At DDR5-4800, the Corsair CMK32GX5M2A4800C40 is a 32GB (2x16GB) desktop memory kit rated CL40, for a true latency of 16.7ns.
Speed and Latency
True latency is CAS latency divided by half the transfer rate: 40 / (4800 / 2) x 1000 = 16.7ns. Almost every desktop DDR5 kit we list has a tighter true latency, so this is not a latency pick.
Platform Fit
Fits DDR5 desktop boards: AMD AM5 (600 and 800 series) and Intel 600, 700 and 800 series boards with DDR5 slots. It does not fit DDR4 boards; the notch is in a different place. 4800MT/s runs on any DDR5 board, but AM5 builds get lower latency from a 6000MT/s kit. Profiles: XMP 3.0.
Capacity and Configuration
Two 16GB modules fill two slots in dual channel, which is the configuration boards run fastest with. Four DDR5 sticks usually run well below their rated speed, so buy the total capacity you need as one two-stick kit rather than adding a second kit later. 32GB covers current games with a browser and Discord open, plus most photo and video work.
Build and Cooling
Corsair does not publish the module height, so check your cooler's RAM clearance if you use a large air cooler. Corsair does not disclose which memory chips are used, which matters mainly if you plan to tune timings by hand.
Speed Score
Speed Score: 5.3/10. The score blends transfer rate and true latency and only ranks DDR5 kits against each other.

FAQs
Is the Corsair CMK32GX5M2A4800C40 compatible with my motherboard?
It fits DDR5 desktop boards (AMD AM5, Intel 600, 700 and 800 series with DDR5 slots). It does not fit DDR4 boards.
Is CL40 at 4800MT/s good?
It works out to 16.7ns true latency.
Can I add a second kit later for four sticks?
It is not recommended. Four DDR5 sticks usually run well below their rated speed. Buy the total capacity you need as one two-stick kit.
Is 4800MT/s good for AMD Ryzen 7000 and 9000?
It works on AM5. A 6000MT/s kit gives slightly lower latency on Ryzen 7000 and 9000.
