Crucial P2 Review
Crucial P2 PCIe 3.0 NVMe SSD, an entry-level DRAM-less drive built for basic upgrades where price matters more than peak throughput.
This is Crucial's answer to "I just need something faster than a hard drive without spending much money." The QLC NAND and missing DRAM cache mean it can't sustain heavy write bursts the way pricier drives do, but for booting an OS and running everyday applications, most people will never notice the difference from a much more expensive drive.
Comparison to Alternatives
Compared with its own successor, the Crucial P3 already in this catalog, the P2 offers noticeably lower peak and sustained speeds, making the P3 the better buy where pricing is close. Against the Kingston NV2, the two compete directly in the entry-level NVMe tier, with real-world performance differences that are minor for typical desktop use.
