Dell XPS 16 9640 Review

Dell XPS 16 9640 with Core Ultra 9 185H, RTX 4070 8GB and 32GB soldered LPDDR5X in a 16.3-inch 3200x2000 OLED touch chassis.

Dell's flagship creator laptop, pairing a low-power RTX 4070 with a large OLED touch panel; memory is soldered and only one storage slot is present.

Overview

The XPS 16 pairs Meteor Lake H with a low-TGP RTX 4070 aimed at creative workloads rather than gaming, in a single-SSD-slot, soldered-memory chassis.

Expert rating8.7 / 10

The XPS 16 9640 pairs a Core Ultra 9 185H with an RTX 40 series GPU carrying 8GB of VRAM and 32GB of LPDDR5X. The 16.3-inch 3200 x 2000 OLED, 99.5Wh battery, Thunderbolt 4 and WiFi 7 suit creative professionals who want a large, color-rich canvas in a 2.03 kg body.

The 32GB of memory is soldered and the storage slot is full, so there is no upgrade path. The OLED panel refreshes at 60Hz, which is less suited to fast gaming. Choose your configuration carefully at purchase.
