Elgato 4K Pro Review

The Elgato 4K Pro is an internal PCIe flagship capture card that captures 4K60 HDR while passing through up to 8K60 or 4K240, with VRR passthrough, multi-app support, and HDR support for professional streamers.

The new flagship internal card from Elgato, built for serious streamers wanting a professional-level setup. It provides pass-through video up to 8K at 60Hz and 4K at 240Hz, alongside genuine 4K60 HDR capture, a top-tier HDMI 2.1 pipeline that keeps gameplay uncompromised regardless of the source display's resolution or refresh rate. VRR passthrough and multi-app support let a streamer capture video, stream to Twitch, and connect to Zoom simultaneously, a genuinely rare multi-tasking capability most competing cards don't offer. Elgato's own 4K Capture Utility software lets image quality settings be fine-tuned directly, and streamers specifically praise the buttery-smooth OBS integration and rock-solid 4K60 quality in early feedback (4.8/5 stars). The higher price is a genuine, acknowledged tradeoff, though independent review states the performance justifies it specifically for anyone streaming professionally.

The higher price is a genuine, acknowledged tradeoff, though independent review states the performance justifies it specifically for anyone streaming professionally.

Comparison to Alternatives

Versus the AVerMedia Live Gamer 4K 2.1 GC575, that sweet-spot card delivers similar core 4K60 HDR capture at a considerably lower price without matching this Pro's 8K60 passthrough or multi-app capability. Versus the Elgato 4K X, that card focuses specifically on true 4K60 capture without this Pro's extended 8K60 passthrough range or multi-app streaming feature.
