This HP Laptop 15-fd configuration ships with a 13th Gen Intel Core i5-1334U, 8GB of DDR4-3200 memory across two SO-DIMM slots, and a 512GB NVMe SSD in a 15.6-inch FHD chassis.
The 15-fd model number covers two genuinely different boards depending on the CPU you pick. This one, with a 13th Gen Core i5, i3 or Core 5 chip, runs on DDR4-3200. Order the same model number with a Core Ultra chip instead and the board switches to DDR5 — a RAM upgrade bought for one won't work in the other.
Performance
The Core i5-1334U is a 10-core, 12-thread Raptor Lake-U part aimed at everyday productivity rather than sustained workloads. HP has not published a sustained power figure for this chassis.
Upgradability
RAM: yes. Two SO-DIMM slots, one populated with a single 8GB DDR4-3200 stick, one free. Confirm you're buying DDR4-3200 modules, not DDR5, since the Core Ultra version of this same model number uses a different board. Storage: the single M.2 2280 slot is already occupied.
Battery life
The 41Wh battery is on the smaller side for a 15.6-inch chassis. HP has not published a light-load runtime figure we could independently verify for this configuration; expect a partial workday of light use rather than all-day battery life.
