HP Laptop 15s-fq4577sa Review

HP Laptop 15s-fq4577sa, Intel Core i7-1195G7, 8GB DDR4-3200, 512GB PCIe NVMe SSD, 15.6 inch FHD micro-edge display, Wi-Fi 5, budget mainstream UK configuration.

A UK-market HP 15s configuration built on an older 11th Gen Tiger Lake platform, proof that the same '15s-fq' family name spans multiple CPU generations, not just one board.

Performance

Intel Core i7-1195G7 (4 cores/8 threads, 11th Gen Tiger Lake) with integrated Intel Iris Xe Graphics. This is an older platform than HP's current Core Ultra 15s-fq boards, same shelf name, different generation entirely, echoing the family's well-documented pattern of reusing model numbers across CPU generations.

Upgradability

8GB of DDR4-3200 ships as 2x4GB, filling both SO-DIMM slots, no free slot despite the memory being socketed rather than soldered. Storage is a single M.2 PCIe NVMe SSD slot, already filled by the 512GB drive shipped.

Battery life

41Wh 3-cell battery, HP-rated up to about 7 hours 15 minutes mixed use and up to 9 hours 15 minutes of video playback.

Display

15.6-inch 1920x1080 micro-edge, anti-glare panel at 250 nits. HP's spec sheet does not confirm panel technology (IPS vs TN) or refresh rate; assume standard 60Hz.

Design and ports

1.69kg. Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac) via Realtek RTL8821CE-M with Bluetooth 4.2, notably behind current Wi-Fi 6/7 laptops.

Expert rating6.2 / 10

This UK-market HP 15s pairs a Core i7-1195G7 with 8GB of DDR4 and a 512GB SSD in a 15.6-inch body that weighs 1.69 kg. The 1920 x 1080 display handles email, browsing and office work comfortably on an 11th Gen platform.

Both memory slots are already filled, so adding RAM means replacing a module. It also has WiFi 5 and no Thunderbolt, and the 41 Wh battery is small. Integrated graphics are not suited to light gaming.

Best for

  • Budget-conscious UK buyers who mainly need email, browsing and office work
  • Anyone who doesn't need modern Wi-Fi 6/6E/7 speeds
  • Buyers comfortable with an older but still capable 11th Gen platform

Not for

  • Anyone wanting to add RAM later, both slots ship full
  • Buyers who want current-generation Wi-Fi or Thunderbolt
  • Users who need strong integrated graphics for light gaming
