The Qualcomm Snapdragon X Plus X1P-42-100 has 8 cores, boosting to 3.4 GHz. It is a low-power chip tuned for battery life: fast for office work, browsing and photo edits, slower than 45W H-series chips in long renders. Its NPU is rated at 45 TOPS for on-device AI features.

Across the 11 systems NotebookCheck has tested with the Qualcomm Snapdragon X Plus X1P-42-100, it averages 691 points in Cinebench 2024 multi-core (range 554 to 763) and 108.2 single-core. Where this laptop lands in that range depends on how much power it lets the chip draw. Under a full stress load, system power briefly spikes and then falls back within about 80 seconds, which points to limited boost headroom.

Graphics come from the integrated Qualcomm Adreno X1-45. It handles video playback, photo edits and lighter or older games at modest settings.

The integrated Adreno GPU is weak for gaming and is best suited to older titles at low resolutions.

Gaming (average across systems). These are NotebookCheck's average frame rates for the Qualcomm Adreno X1-45 1.7 TFLOPS across every system it has tested with this GPU, not this laptop alone. Power limits differ between laptops, so this one can land above or below the average.

Memory: fixed. 16GB of LPDDR5x-8448 is soldered to the board, so buy the amount you will need for the life of the laptop; configurations go up to 32GB.

The 14-inch OLED panel runs at 1920x1200 (162 pixels per inch) and 60Hz. It is rated at 300 nits. NotebookCheck measured 289 nits with the near-infinite contrast OLED is known for. Color coverage is 95% P3, good enough for photo and video work. Response time is 1.8 ms, so motion stays sharp. The panel flickers at 480 Hz (PWM) at lower brightness, which matters if you are sensitive to it.

The glossy OLED is fairly dim for an OLED panel, so glare becomes a problem outdoors, and there is no HDR support or high refresh rate option.

The Qualcomm Snapdragon X Plus X1P-42-100 is an Arm chip, so apps built for Arm run natively and older x86 Windows apps run through Microsoft's Prism emulation layer. Check that any games with anti-cheat, older printers or VPN clients, and niche drivers you depend on support Windows on Arm before buying.

Software that runs natively on ARM performs well, but emulated applications respond noticeably more slowly and throw errors more often, so compatibility is the main caveat.

NotebookCheck measured 37.8 dB(A) under load and 25.8 dB(A) at idle. That is quiet enough for a library or a meeting. The hottest surface reached 33.6 °C.

The laptop is close to silent during browsing and editing and stays quiet even under GPU-heavy loads, with the fan only picking up during long CPU-heavy tasks.

The battery is 59Wh, smaller than 61% of the thin and light laptops we list. NotebookCheck got 16 hours 54 minutes of Wi-Fi browsing. HP's own battery rating: Up to 34 hours of video playback (HP). Fast charging: HP quotes about 50 percent in 30 minutes.

Materials: Aluminum (recycled metal in the cover, base and keyboard bracket). At 1.29 kg it is lighter than 65% of the thin and light laptops we list. It measures 312x217.4x12.7 mm.

The thin metal chassis looks more like a business EliteBook than a budget machine and avoids the thick plastic builds common in this class.

The full-size backlit keyboard is comfortable to type on, and HP adds a mic mute key and a Copilot key.

The clickpad is spacious at roughly 12.5 by 8 cm and supports Windows Precision drivers. Sign-in: IR camera for Windows Hello face login.

There is no Thunderbolt, so docks and fast external drives run at USB speeds. It charges over USB-C.

Full list: 2x USB-C 10Gbps, both on the left side, 1x USB-A 10Gbps, 1x 3.5mm headphone/microphone combo jack. Wireless: Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3.

Both USB-C ports sit on the left edge, which limits where the charger can plug in, and there is no SD card reader.

The HP OmniBook 5 14 name covers several builds. Processors: Qualcomm Snapdragon X X1-26-100 and Qualcomm Snapdragon X Plus X1P-42-100. Memory: 16GB or 32GB LPDDR5x-8448 on board, not upgradeable. Screens: 14-inch 1920x1200 OLED, 60Hz, 300 nits, 95% DCI-P3, non-touch; 14-inch 1920x1200 OLED touchscreen. Check the exact configuration on the listing before you buy.

Still current as far as this search found: HP still sells the OmniBook 5 14 (14-he0000) with first-generation Snapdragon X chips, and while the higher-end OmniBook Ultra 14 has moved to Snapdragon X2, no X2 version of the OmniBook 5 14 turned up.
