Intel Core i5-1334U Review
Intel Core i5-1334U laptop processor: 10 cores (2P + 8E), 12 threads, up to 4.6 GHz, 12 MB cache, Intel Iris Xe Graphics (80 EU, up to 1.25 GHz), 15 W base power, 55 W max turbo, Intel 7, 13th Gen Raptor Lake.
The Intel Core i5-1334U is a 10-core, 12-thread laptop processor from Intel's 13th Gen Raptor Lake-U family, launched in early 2023. It boosts up to 4.6 GHz, has 12 MB of cache and Iris Xe graphics with 80 execution units, all in a 15 W base power envelope. You'll mostly find it in budget and midrange thin-and-light laptops, soldered to the board rather than sold as a boxed chip.
What the Core i5-1334U is
The Core i5-1334U is a low-power 13th Gen laptop chip, soldered to the motherboard, so you pick it by picking the laptop. It has 2 performance cores and 8 efficient cores, 12 threads in total, with the performance cores boosting to 4.6 GHz and the efficient cores to 3.4 GHz. It shares 12 MB of cache, runs at a 15 W base power with up to 55 W in short bursts, and is built on Intel 7. It supports up to 96 GB of DDR5-5200, DDR4-3200, LPDDR5/x-5200 or LPDDR4x-4267 memory in two channels, plus Thunderbolt 4 and PCIe Gen 4.
Performance in everyday use
With 2 performance cores backed by 8 efficient cores, the i5-1334U is built for responsive everyday work rather than long heavy loads. Browsing with many tabs, office apps, video calls and streaming all run smoothly, and the efficient cores take care of background tasks. Long video exports or big code compiles take noticeably longer than on H-series or P-series chips with more performance cores. Laptop makers set their own power limits and cooling, so two laptops with the same i5-1334U can feel quite different under sustained load.

Graphics
The integrated graphics have 80 execution units running at up to 1.25 GHz. Intel only allows the Iris Xe name when the laptop has dual-channel memory; with a single memory stick the same graphics are labeled Intel UHD and lose a good share of their speed, which is common in cheaper laptops. Either way it handles 4K video, up to four displays and light photo editing well, and runs older or lighter games at low settings. There is no NPU for AI features.
Comparison to Alternatives
Against the 12th Gen Core i5-1235U it replaces, the i5-1334U keeps the same 2P + 8E layout with a slightly higher boost clock and support for faster memory. On Intel's spec sheet it looks almost the same as the Core i5-1335U, and the 2024 Core 5 120U is essentially the same Raptor Lake design under the new Core naming with higher boost clocks. AMD's Ryzen 5 7530U offers 6 full cores and 12 threads, the budget Ryzen 5 7520U has only 4 cores, and the newer Ryzen 5 230 brings a much stronger Radeon 760M. The comparison pages below show each spec side by side.
Should you buy a laptop with it?
Yes, if you want an affordable laptop for school, office work or travel and don't need heavy multi-core power. Check that the laptop has dual-channel memory, ideally 16 GB, and a decent screen, since those make a bigger difference day to day than small CPU gaps. If you want better integrated graphics for casual gaming, look at a Ryzen 5 230 laptop, and if you want AI features, look at newer Core Ultra or Ryzen AI chips.

FAQs
Is the Intel Core i5-1334U good for a laptop?
Yes, for everyday use. Its 10 cores handle browsing, office apps, video calls and streaming smoothly in a thin, quiet laptop. It is not built for heavy rendering or modern games.
Is the Core i5-1334U a desktop or laptop processor?
It is a laptop processor. It is soldered to the laptop motherboard and is not sold as a boxed CPU, so you cannot buy it on its own or swap it later.
What is the difference between the Core i5-1334U and the i5-1335U?
Very little. Intel lists both with 2 performance and 8 efficient cores, 12 threads, a 4.6 GHz boost, 12 MB of cache and 80 graphics execution units. The i5-1335U supports faster LPDDR5x memory, up to 6400 MT/s versus 5200 MT/s. The i5-1334U shows up mostly in budget consumer laptops, so compare the rest of the laptop, such as memory, screen and battery, more than the chip.
Does the Core i5-1334U have Iris Xe graphics?
Only when the laptop has dual-channel memory. With a single memory stick, Intel labels the same graphics as Intel UHD and they run noticeably slower. Check the memory setup before you buy.
Can the Core i5-1334U play games?
Only older and lighter games at low settings. Its integrated graphics are fine for esports titles and casual games, especially with dual-channel memory. For modern games, pick a laptop with a dedicated GPU.
