j5create JCD388 Thunderbolt 4 Dock Review

The j5create JCD388 is a Thunderbolt 4 dock with 9 total ports, 96W host charging, dual 4K@60Hz display support, and a slim horizontal chassis for ~$240.

j5create has built peripherals for over two decades, and the JCD388 reflects that with a straightforward, no-frills layout that prioritizes stable driver behavior over flashy design. 96W of charging covers a 14-inch MacBook Pro or comparable Windows ultrabook reliably, and the dock's lower price point makes it a sensible entry point for buyers moving from a basic USB-C hub into full Thunderbolt 4 bandwidth. Versus the UGREEN Revodok Pro 210, that offers pass-through charging at a lower price, worth it for buyers prioritizing cost above all else. Versus the StarTech.com Thunderbolt 4 Dock, that adds enterprise deployment features, worth it for IT-managed environments over a home desk.
