Lenovo LOQ 15IRH8 Review
The Lenovo LOQ 15IRH8 in this configuration ships with a Core i5-13420H, an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4050 Laptop GPU with 6GB VRAM, and 8GB of DDR5-5200 memory in a single SO-DIMM.
This is the entry point into the LOQ 15 line, and the 8GB single-stick memory configuration is the first thing to fix. Lenovo left a second SO-DIMM slot free, so adding an 8GB or 16GB stick to run dual channel is a same-day upgrade that meaningfully helps the RTX 4050's frame times.
Performance
The RTX 4050 in this chassis is rated at 95W by Lenovo's PSREF sheet, with no separate base figure published. Combined with an 8-core i5-13420H, this is a 1080p esports and mainstream gaming machine rather than one built for demanding AAA titles at high settings.
Upgradability
RAM: yes. Two SO-DIMM slots, one occupied with a single 8GB stick, one free. Adding a matching module gets you dual channel, which matters more for this iGPU-adjacent memory bandwidth than most buyers expect. Storage: yes. Two M.2 2280 slots, PCIe 4.0 x4, one free for a second SSD.
Battery life
The 60Wh battery is on the small side for a 15.6-inch gaming chassis. Expect a few hours of light browsing and well under an hour of sustained gaming before the RTX 4050 needs a wall outlet.
Display
144Hz at 1080p on an IPS panel is the right spec for the performance tier this machine sits in. 350 nits is adequate indoors but not bright enough for anywhere near a window.
Design and ports
At 2.4kg this is a fairly heavy 15.6-inch laptop, typical for the LOQ line's cooling-first chassis. There's no Thunderbolt, which is normal at this price point, and WiFi 6 rather than 6E or 7.

Expert rating7.1 / 10
The LOQ 15 with a Core i5-13420H and an RTX 40 series GPU with 6GB of VRAM is aimed at 1080p esports and mainstream gaming on a 15.6-inch 144Hz IPS screen. It ships with 8GB of DDR5 and one free SO-DIMM slot, so a RAM upgrade is straightforward, and a free M.2 slot adds storage.
The 60Wh battery gives limited time away from the charger. At 2.4 kg with no Thunderbolt it is not a travel machine, and 8GB will feel tight until you add a stick.
Best for
- Buyers who want a same-day RAM upgrade path
- 1080p esports and mainstream gaming on a budget
- Anyone who wants NVMe expansion room for a second drive
Not for
- Anyone who wants to game unplugged for more than an hour
- AAA gaming at high settings
- Buyers who want Thunderbolt or a lighter chassis
