Lenovo ThinkPad T480 Review
Lenovo ThinkPad T480 (machine types 20L5 and 20L6) with a Core i5-8250U, 8GB DDR4, 256GB SSD and a 14-inch 1920x1080 IPS panel rated at 250 nits, plus the dual-battery Power Bridge setup.
The T480 is one of the easiest ThinkPads to repair: two SO-DIMM slots, a removable rear battery, and a 30-pin eDP panel on non-touch units. Lenovo shipped HD TN, FHD IPS, FHD on-cell touch and WQHD panels, so check the label on your old panel before ordering a replacement.
Screen replacement
Non-touch HD and FHD T480 panels use a 30-pin connector. The FHD on-cell touch panel uses a 40-pin narrow connector and a different display cable, so a touch panel is not a drop-in swap for a non-touch unit. Lenovo lists FRU 01EN020 (BOE HD), 01LW010 (LG Display FHD), 01LW092 (AUO FHD touch) and 01LW093 (BOE FHD touch) among the T480 panels.
Battery replacement
The T480 carries a 3-cell 24Wh internal battery (FRU family 01AV421) and a removable external battery sold as 3-cell 24Wh (01AV424 family), 6-cell 48Wh (01AV425 family) or 6-cell 72Wh (01AV427 family). The external battery can be swapped without opening the laptop.
