Noctua NH-C14S

Noctua rates the NH-C14S for up to 180W, which covers most mid-range AM5 and LGA1700 chips comfortably but leaves no real headroom for a 13900K or 7950X pushed to their power limits. In the low-profile orientation the single 140mm fan trades some outright cooling capacity for that wide direct airflow over the board, so we'd treat this as a cooler for balanced builds rather than an overclocking flagship.

The bundled NF-A14 140mm fan runs at 19.2dBA at full tilt, which is genuinely quiet for a cooler pulling this kind of duty, and Noctua's included low-noise adapter drops it further for builds where silence matters more than the last few degrees. A second fan mount lets you go push-pull if you need more from it later.

Current AM4/AM5 and LGA1700/1200/115X sockets are all covered with Noctua's SecuFirm2 mounting, and the low-profile orientation is the whole reason to buy this over a standard tower: it slides under a lot of side-panel and radiator obstructions that would stop a taller cooler cold.

Copper heatpipes run through an aluminum fin stack in Noctua's usual brown-and-tan finish, and the RAM clearance in low-profile mode is generous since the fan sits above the socket rather than beside it, so tall heat-spreader memory kits are a non-issue here in a way they aren't on most dual-tower air coolers.

Against Noctua's own NH-U9S, covered elsewhere on this site, the NH-C14S is the pick when case clearance or a top-down airflow pattern for VRM cooling matters more than raw thermal ceiling, since the U9S is a conventional tower with a tighter footprint but less board-wide airflow. Against the NH-L9x65, also on this site, the C14S runs cooler and quieter but needs noticeably more clearance, so the L9x65 stays the better call for genuinely cramped SFF builds.
