NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 Ti Review
The GTX 1070 Ti gets searched by people trying to decide if their older card is worth upgrading, since NVIDIA slotted it awkwardly close in performance to the GTX 1080 when it launched in late 2017.
With 2432 CUDA cores, it landed within a few percent of the pricier GTX 1080 in most games, which made it a genuinely smart buy at launch but means it's aged into budget-tier territory right alongside the 1080 today.
The Overlooked Middle Child
NVIDIA built the 1070 Ti specifically to answer AMD's Vega 56, and it did its job well - it undercut the GTX 1080 by $150 while trailing it by only a handful of frames per second in most 2017-era games. Nearly a decade later, its lack of ray tracing hardware and GDDR5 memory bandwidth put it firmly in legacy budget territory, still capable of solid 1080p gaming but stretched at 1440p in newer titles.
Comparison to Alternatives
Against the pricier NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti from the same generation, the 1070 Ti trails by a meaningful margin in raw performance but was always the better value pick, a gap that matters less now that both are secondhand budget options. A modern equivalent in spirit, the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060, comfortably outperforms the 1070 Ti while adding ray tracing and DLSS support the older Pascal card simply can't do.

Expert rating4.9 / 10
A well-priced Pascal card in its day, now solidly legacy budget-tier - fine for 1080p, best avoided for anything newer or pricier.
Best for
- Secondhand 1080p budget builds
- Buyers who already own one and don't need an upgrade yet
- Retro PC builds recreating the late-2017 GPU landscape
Not for
- 1440p or 4K gaming in modern titles
- Anyone wanting ray tracing or DLSS
- New purchases in 2026 - budget RTX 30-series cards are a better use of similar money
