Orange Pi Zero 2W Review
The Orange Pi Zero 2W updates Orange Pi's Zero-format lineup with the newer Allwinner H618 chip, offering up to 4GB of RAM in a Raspberry Pi Zero-sized board at a genuinely low price.
Up to 4GB of RAM is unusually generous for a board this small and cheap, giving the Zero 2W more headroom for lightweight desktop use than most competing tiny-format boards, including several already on this site.
More RAM Than Most Zero-Format Boards
Up to 4GB of RAM is unusually generous for a board this small and cheap, giving the Zero 2W more headroom for lightweight desktop use than most competing tiny-format boards, including several already on this site.
A Cortex-A53 Refresh for the Zero Format
The Allwinner H618's quad-core Cortex-A53 cores at 1.5GHz bring a newer chip generation to the Zero form factor than older Allwinner-based Orange Pi Zero boards used, improving efficiency and media decode support.
Comparison to Alternatives
Against the Orange Pi Zero 3 already on this site, the Zero 2W uses a different Allwinner chip generation, giving buyers a second budget tiny-format option to compare specs and software support against. Against the Raspberry Pi Zero 2 W already on this site, the Orange Pi Zero 2W generally offers more maximum RAM at a similar or lower price, at the cost of a less mature software ecosystem.

Expert rating7 / 10
Unusually generous RAM for a Zero-sized board, with the usual Orange Pi software caveats.
Best for
- Budget tiny-format projects that want more RAM headroom than most Zero-sized boards offer.
Not for
- Buyers who prioritize the Raspberry Pi ecosystem's software maturity over raw specs.

The author states these are not pure hardware numbers: they depend on kernel, distro and settings, and openssl (AES) numbers should be taken with a grain of salt. Single run, as listed in sbc-bench Results.md.
