The Phanteks P400A is still a common search years after launch because it was one of the first budget mesh cases to include three fans standard, and it's held up well against newer competition.
It's aged out of front USB-C, which is the main reason to look at something newer, but the 420mm GPU clearance and three included fans still make it a genuinely good value case if you can find it discounted.
Why It's Still Recommended
Three pre-installed 120mm PWM fans, a full mesh front, and 420mm of GPU clearance were ahead of the curve when the P400A launched, and those numbers are still competitive with cases released far more recently.
Where It Falls Behind
No front USB-C is the biggest gap versus modern cases, and CPU cooler clearance at 160mm is on the lower side for today's larger air coolers.
Comparison to Alternatives
Against the Phanteks XT Pro, the P400A has more GPU clearance and comes with more fans, while the XT Pro is the newer design with front USB-C.
