VAIO SX14 2023 Review

VAIO SX14 2023 business ultraportable laptop with Intel Core i7-1355U, 16GB soldered LPDDR4X, 512GB NVMe SSD, 14-inch FHD IPS display, sub-1kg Japanese-engineered chassis.

VAIO's flagship 14-inch ultraportable, built in VAIO's own Nagano, Japan factory. Prioritizes weight and keyboard quality over raw performance, with a carbon-fiber chassis under 1kg.

Overview

The SX14 continues VAIO's post-Sony lineage of ultra-light business laptops, aimed at professionals who travel with their laptop daily. It pairs a 13th-gen Intel U-series chip with a full-size backlit keyboard and a wide port selection rare in this weight class.

Expert rating7.2 / 10

The VAIO SX14 weighs 0.999 kg with a 14-inch 1920x1080 IPS screen, a Core i7-1355U and 16GB of LPDDR4X. Thunderbolt 4 and WiFi 6E make it a suitable travel laptop for business users who value weight and keyboard feel.

The memory is soldered at 16GB and capped there, so it cannot be upgraded. Graphics are integrated, so creators and gamers needing a discrete GPU should look elsewhere, and there is one M.2 slot already filled.

Best for

  • Frequent business travelers
  • Buyers who prioritize keyboard feel and weight over raw GPU power

Not for

  • Gamers or creators needing discrete graphics
  • Buyers wanting user-upgradeable RAM
