VAIO VJ8PD65W 65W USB-C AC adapter for the VAIO SX14, SX12, S13 and S11.
VJ8PD65W is VAIO's 65W GaN USB-C PD standard adapter: 5V, 9V, 15V at 3A and 20V at 3.25A, with a 1.8m cable and 164g weight. VAIO's page lists it for the SX12, SX14 and S13 VJS134 and marks it production ended. Our data maps it to the SX14 VJS141 to VJS143, SX12 VJS121 to VJS123, S13 VJS132 and S11 VJS112. VAIO runs a free replacement for some units made from October 2021 because the plug can detach. Check yours.

Connector and wattage checks
Recall: VAIO found the plug on some VJ8PD65W units made from October 2021 can detach, with a shock risk. Units without a letter such as A at the top right of the plug marking may be affected. Check the serial on VAIO's replacement site; exchange is free.
Wattage: 65W at 20V 3.25A. A lower wattage USB-C charger can fail to charge under load.
Cable: a standard 3A USB-C cable is fine at 65W.

VJ8PD65W is a genuine VAIO adapter. A third party USB-C PD charger that offers 20V at 3.25A (65W) or more matches its top profile. VAIO does not publish a list of approved third party chargers and we have not tested one, so treat a substitute as unknown.

Is my VJ8PD65W part of the VAIO recall?
Possibly, if it was made from October 2021. VAIO says some units without a letter such as A at the top right of the plug marking are affected. Enter the serial on VAIO's replacement site (entry.support.vaio.com/202201adp/) to check. Replacement is free.
Can I use a higher wattage USB-C charger?
Yes. USB-C PD chargers and laptops negotiate the voltage, so a 100W PD charger only delivers what the VAIO asks for.
Do I need a special cable?
No. At 65W a standard 3A USB-C cable is enough. A 5A e-marked cable only matters above 100W.
