We change the site every week. Most of it happens quietly in the data, so from now on we will list the changes here each month, with a reason for each one.
The good
Speed Score for RAM. Desktop DDR4 and DDR5 kits now carry a Speed Score out of 10, shown at the top of every spec sheet and comparison. DDR4 and DDR5 are scored separately, because your motherboard supports only one of them. Sort the RAM finder by it.
Speed Score for SSDs. Internal and portable SSDs now have a Speed Score too, on separate scales so a USB drive is never ranked against an internal NVMe drive. Try the SSD finder, or compare two drives such as the Samsung 990 PRO and WD Black SN850X.
Capability Score for KVM switches. Desk, secure, rack, KVM over IP and extender models each have their own score, because they are bought for different jobs. See the KVM switch finder.
Secure KVM certification checked against the official list. Secure KVM switches now show their status on the NIAP Product Compliant List, the US government list of certified peripheral sharing devices, rather than the maker's wording.
The fixes
- SSD specs filled in. We added missing read and write speeds, cache and NAND details for 73 SSDs, each checked against the maker's own page, a datasheet or a teardown review.
- Two drives were the wrong brand. The SHPP51 part numbers are the SK hynix Platinum P51, not Samsung drives. Both listings are corrected.
- KVM corrections. The ATEN CS1788 is a dual-link DVI switch, not DisplayPort. The Vertiv SC840DVI-400 supports 4 computers, not 8. Two Rose fiber extenders were listed as HDMI when they are DVI.
- Cleaner names. We removed prices and extra text from over 300 KVM product names so they read as model names.
- Comparison text. Resolution comparisons no longer produce odd multiples like "960x", and every comparison now leads with its score when both products have one.
The meh
Some products are still unscored, usually because a maker does not publish a key spec such as the DRAM cache or NAND type. We leave those blank rather than guess, and fill them in as sources appear.

- Every product page now has a "Report an error" link. If you spot something wrong, it goes straight to us.
