Blackmagic Design Web Presenter vs Elgato HD60 X: Comparison
Blackmagic Design Web Presenter vs Elgato HD60 X: the connection type difference
The first real difference is connection type: Blackmagic Design Web Presenter USB 3.0 / 3.2 Gen 1 against Elgato HD60 X USB-C. Passthrough resolution is not the same on both, 1080p60 on the Blackmagic Design Web Presenter versus 4K60 HDR on the Elgato HD60 X. There is a split on hdr support as well, No on the Blackmagic Design Web Presenter versus Yes on the Elgato HD60 X.
Blackmagic Design Web Presenter vs Elgato HD60 X: which one fits your build
Buy the Blackmagic Design Web Presenter for professional presenters switching between two SDI or HDMI camera feeds and corporate or house-of-worship AV setups needing hardware switching with tally, though it is not the pick for simple single-camera streamers who don't need hardware switching. It is equally the pick for studios that need a clean UVC webcam output for Zoom or Teams from broadcast gear. It is not the one for console or PC gaming capture, since there's no HDR or 4K support. Take the Elgato HD60 X for the vast majority of console streamers wanting reliable 1080p60 capture with 4K passthrough in a simple USB-C package. Avoid it for creators specifically wanting true 4K video capture for YouTube uploads, the Elgato 4K X is the right step up for that. Our rating of the Blackmagic Design Web Presenter (8/10): excellent for professional two-camera presenting setups that need to output as a plain webcam. Overkill and the wrong tool for gaming capture. Our rating of the Elgato HD60 X (9/10): the best capture card for most console streamers, reliable 1080p60 capture with 4K60 HDR passthrough in a simple USB-C package.
