Alienware Graphics Amplifier vs Sonnet eGFX Breakaway Puck: Comparison
Alienware Graphics Amplifier vs Sonnet eGFX Breakaway Puck connection standard compared
Connection standard is the dividing line, Alienware Graphics Amplifier Proprietary against Sonnet eGFX Breakaway Puck Thunderbolt 3.
Alienware Graphics Amplifier vs Sonnet eGFX Breakaway Puck: which one fits your build
it is the wrong buy for anyone wanting USB-C laptop charging through the eGPU cable. It is equally the pick for owners of a compatible older Alienware or Dell G-Series laptop with the Amplifier Port. Avoid it for any laptop without the specific Alienware Graphics Amplifier Port, since the connector is proprietary. Take the Sonnet eGFX Breakaway Puck for travelers and light gaming/creative workloads wanting a complete, compact eGPU solution with no assembly. It is the wrong buy for buyers wanting maximum performance from a high-end desktop GPU, a full-size enclosure like the Core X V2 supports more powerful cards. Our rating of the Alienware Graphics Amplifier (6/10): strong bandwidth for its era, but locked to a short list of older Alienware and Dell G-Series laptops. Our rating of the Sonnet eGFX Breakaway Puck (7/10): A complete, genuinely portable eGPU solution with the GPU pre-installed and zero assembly.
