Sonnet eGFX Breakaway Puck Review

The Sonnet eGFX Breakaway Puck is a compact Thunderbolt 3 eGPU with the graphics card pre-installed, up to 60W laptop charging, and a genuinely portable 2.95 lb form factor.

Where our Razer Core X V2 and ADT-Link UT3G require you to source your own graphics card, the Sonnet eGFX Breakaway Puck ships with the GPU already installed, and at roughly a third the size and weight of a full enclosure, genuinely portable in a way full-size eGPU boxes aren't. No assembly required, no separate GPU purchase, at 2.95 lbs it's light enough to actually travel with. Up to 60W of laptop charging through the same Thunderbolt 3 cable means one less cable on your desk or in your bag.

Pre-Installed GPU in a Genuinely Portable Shell

No assembly required, no separate GPU purchase, the Puck is a complete, compact eGPU solution, at 2.95 lbs it's light enough to actually travel with, unlike most eGPU enclosures which are desk-bound by size and weight alone.

Built-In Laptop Charging

Up to 60W of laptop charging through the same Thunderbolt 3 cable means one less cable on your desk or in your bag, a small but genuinely convenient detail for a portable-first eGPU solution.

Comparison to Alternatives

Against our own GPD G1, both ship with a GPU pre-installed, the G1 uses a more powerful AMD RX 7600M XT at a higher price, the Puck is the more affordable, more compact alternative for lighter workloads. Against our own Razer Core X V2, the Core X V2 requires buying and installing your own full-size desktop GPU for potentially much higher performance, the Puck trades that ceiling for genuine portability and zero assembly.
