AOOSTAR AG01 vs Sonnet eGFX Breakaway Puck: Comparison
What is the difference between AOOSTAR AG01 and Sonnet eGFX Breakaway Puck?
They are built to different briefs, and connection standard shows it, AOOSTAR AG01 OCuLink against Sonnet eGFX Breakaway Puck Thunderbolt 3.
Who each one is for
it is the wrong buy for buyers who want laptop charging through the eGPU connection. It is equally the pick for handheld PC and mini PC owners with an OCuLink port looking for the cheapest real GPU upgrade. Avoid it for laptops without an OCuLink port, since there's no Thunderbolt/USB4 fallback on this model. Take the Sonnet eGFX Breakaway Puck for travelers and light gaming/creative workloads wanting a complete, compact eGPU solution with no assembly. It is not the one for buyers wanting maximum performance from a high-end desktop GPU, a full-size enclosure like the Core X V2 supports more powerful cards. Our rating of the AOOSTAR AG01 (7/10): unbeatable value for OCuLink-equipped mini PCs and handhelds, but strictly for OCuLink hosts only. Our rating of the Sonnet eGFX Breakaway Puck (7/10): A complete, genuinely portable eGPU solution with the GPU pre-installed and zero assembly.
