Which should you buy, Adder Technology Adder ALIF1104T or Vertiv (Avocent) Avocent SC740?
Buy the Adder Technology Adder ALIF1104T for enterprise IP KVM matrix deployments across many rooms and HDMI workstations needing centralized network-routed access, though it is not the pick for small single-room point-to-point extension needs and DisplayPort or 4K/5K workstation resolutions. The Vertiv (Avocent) Avocent SC740 is the one to take for government and defense desks needing entry-tier NIAP-certified isolation and IT teams standardizing on Vertiv's SC700 security platform, though it is the wrong buy for desks needing HDMI instead of DisplayPort (see the SC945H) and anyone wanting audio switching. It is equally the pick for 4-computer secure setups on a tighter budget than the SC900 series. Our rating of the Adder Technology Adder ALIF1104T (8/10): A strong HDMI-based enterprise IP KVM transmitter for buyers already invested in the ADDERLink Infinity ecosystem. Our rating of the Vertiv (Avocent) Avocent SC740 (7/10): A solid entry point into certified secure KVM switching for a standard 4-computer desk.
