Which should you buy, Apple MacBook Pro 16-inch or Dell XPS 15 9560?
Buy the Apple MacBook Pro 16-inch for studios standardizing on a single top-tier laptop for heavy pipelines and buyers who value battery life alongside maximum performance, though it is the wrong buy for portability-first buyers, heaviest and priciest MacBook configuration and budget-conscious buyers by a wide margin. It is equally the pick for colorists, 3D and ML professionals who need the most GPU a MacBook offers. Avoid it for anyone who doesn't saturate GPU cores day to day, M5 Pro is enough. The Dell XPS 15 9560 suits buyers wanting a 2017-era 4K creator laptop and DIY screen replacement projects (well-documented panel), though it is not the pick for sustained GPU workloads (known thermal throttling). Our rating of the Apple MacBook Pro 16-inch (8.8/10): the 16 inch MacBook Pro with M5 Max has an 18-core CPU, 36GB of unified memory, 2TB of storage and a Liquid Retina XDR display at 1000 nits and 120Hz. A 100Wh battery, Thunderbolt 5 and WiFi 7 serve colorists, 3D artists and ML professionals who need the most GPU a MacBook offers. At 2.15 kg with a 16 inch footprint it is a heavy carry, and memory and storage cannot be upgraded.
