Dell XPS 15 9560 Review

Dell XPS 15 9560 with Intel Core i7-7700HQ, GeForce GTX 1050, up to 32GB DDR4, 512GB NVMe SSD, 15.6-inch 4K UHD (3840x2160) touch IPS display, 97Wh battery.

A landmark thin-and-light workstation-class laptop from 2017 that popularized the near-borderless InfinityEdge display, still widely serviced today thanks to a large replacement-parts ecosystem.

Overview

The 9560 was one of the first mainstream laptops to pair a discrete GPU with a genuinely thin 15.6-inch chassis, at the cost of well-documented thermal throttling under sustained GPU load.

Screen replacement note

The 4K UHD touch configuration uses an LG Display LP156UD1-SPB1 panel (15.6" 3840x2160, 40-pin eDP), one of the most widely available 4K laptop replacement panels on the market.

Expert rating7.2 / 10

The XPS 15 9560 is a 2017 laptop with a Core i7-7700HQ, a GTX-class GPU with 4GB of VRAM and a 3840 x 2160 IPS panel. The 97Wh battery is large and the 16GB of DDR4 sits in SO-DIMM slots, so it appeals to buyers wanting an older 4K creator laptop or a documented screen replacement project.

The notes flag thermal throttling under sustained GPU loads, and WiFi 5 shows its age. Check battery and fan health on any used unit.

Best for

Buyers wanting a 2017-era 4K creator laptop
DIY screen replacement projects (well-documented panel)

Not for

Sustained GPU workloads (known thermal throttling)
