Which should you buy, ThinkPad P1 Gen 7 or ThinkPad P14s Gen 5 AMD?
The ThinkPad P1 Gen 7 is the one to take for professionals who need real GPU compute in a business-class chassis, though it is not the pick for anyone prioritizing all-day battery life over graphics performance and budget buyers, workstation certification carries a premium. It is equally the pick for CAD, BIM and 3D content creators who need ISV driver certification. Avoid it for gamers, RTX 4070 here is tuned for workstation loads, not frame rates. The ThinkPad P14s Gen 5 AMD suits light CAD/ISV work needing portability, though it is the wrong buy for GPU-accelerated rendering.
