The P1 Gen 7 is Lenovo's certified mobile workstation: a 16-core Core Ultra 9 paired with an RTX 4070 for CAD, rendering and ML work, in a chassis that still opens up for RAM and storage upgrades.
Performance
The Core Ultra 9 185H (16 cores: 6P+8E+2LP-E) pairs with an NVIDIA RTX 4070 Laptop GPU (8GB GDDR6) plus Intel Arc integrated graphics for Optimus-style switching. Lenovo does not publish a chassis TGP for this GPU tier on the P1 line, so treat sustained clocks as workstation-conservative rather than gaming-laptop aggressive; ISV certification (SolidWorks, AutoCAD) matters more than peak FPS here.
Upgradability
This is one of the few 2026 laptops using LPCAMM2: a single module (here 64GB, the vendor maximum) that is not soldered but also is not a SO-DIMM — it's a compression-mount card that a technician can swap. Storage is genuinely open: two M.2 2280 PCIe 4.0x4 slots, one filled with the 1TB drive shipped, one free for a second drive up to 4TB.
Battery life
90Wh battery with rapid charge to 80% in about an hour. Lenovo does not publish a light-load runtime figure for this configuration; expect materially less than thin-and-light numbers given the discrete GPU and 165Hz panel.
Display
16-inch 2560x1600 IPS panel at 165Hz, 500 nits (Lenovo does not state the measurement condition). Lenovo also offers a 1920x1200/60Hz panel and a 3840x2400 OLED 360Hz touch panel in this chassis; this record covers the QHD+ 165Hz IPS configuration.
Design and ports
1.82kg starting weight, MIL-SPEC tested ThinkPad chassis. Ports: 2x Thunderbolt 4, 1x USB-A 5Gbps, 1x USB-C 10Gbps, HDMI 2.1, SD Express 7.0, and a Kensington lock slot. Wi-Fi 7 (Intel BE200) and Bluetooth 5.4.
