Lenovo ThinkPad P1 Gen 7 vs Lenovo ThinkPad P16 Gen 2: Comparison
What is the difference between ThinkPad P1 Gen 7 and ThinkPad P16 Gen 2?
The gap that matters here is refresh rate: ThinkPad P1 Gen 7 165 Hz against ThinkPad P16 Gen 2 360 Hz, which puts ThinkPad P16 Gen 2 54% ahead. ThinkPad P16 Gen 2 also leads on vram, 8 GB on the ThinkPad P1 Gen 7 versus 16 GB on the ThinkPad P16 Gen 2.
ThinkPad P1 Gen 7 vs ThinkPad P16 Gen 2: which one fits your build
The ThinkPad P1 Gen 7 suits professionals who need real GPU compute in a business-class chassis, though it is the wrong buy for anyone prioritizing all-day battery life over graphics performance and budget buyers, workstation certification carries a premium. It is equally the pick for CAD, BIM and 3D content creators who need ISV driver certification. It is the wrong buy for gamers, RTX 4070 here is tuned for workstation loads, not frame rates. Buy the ThinkPad P16 Gen 2 for color-critical creative work at high refresh and buyers who want RAM/storage headroom, though it is not built for portability-focused buyers.
