AMD Ryzen 7 5800X vs Intel Core i7-14700K: Comparison
AMD Ryzen 7 5800X vs Intel Core i7-14700K: the l2 cache difference
Start with l2 cache, because it is the widest measured gap between them: AMD Ryzen 7 5800X 4 MB against Intel Core i7-14700K 28 MB, 86% in favour of Intel Core i7-14700K. Blender Cycles (CPU) backs the spec sheet up. Intel Core i7-14700K scores 444 to 207 over 121 runs, 53% clear. They differ on integrated graphics too, No on the AMD Ryzen 7 5800X versus Yes on the Intel Core i7-14700K.
Which should you buy, AMD Ryzen 7 5800X or Intel Core i7-14700K?
Take the AMD Ryzen 7 5800X for desktop gaming and productivity builds wanting genuine Zen 3 architectural gains with strong single-threaded performance. It is not the one for buyers who need integrated graphics, this chip requires a discrete GPU. Take the Intel Core i7-14700K for gaming and content-creation desktop builds wanting near-flagship multi-threaded throughput at a lower price than the i9. Avoid it for buyers wanting Intel's most power-efficient current architecture, the newer Arrow Lake Core Ultra lineup offers better efficiency on a fresh platform. Our rating of the Intel Core i7-14700K (8.7/10): the Intel Core i7-14700K delivers most of the i9's performance for less, making it one of the best-value high-end LGA 1700 chips.
What AMD Ryzen 7 5800X and Intel Core i7-14700K have in common
