Banana Pi BPI-M5 Pro vs Milk-V Jupiter 2: Comparison
Banana Pi BPI-M5 Pro vs Milk-V Jupiter 2 gpu model compared
The first real difference is gpu model: Banana Pi BPI-M5 Pro Mali-G52 against Milk-V Jupiter 2 IMG BXM-4-64-MC1 ; 4K120 video decode, 4K60 encode. Soc model is not the same on both, Rockchip RK3576 on the Banana Pi BPI-M5 Pro versus SpacemiT K3 , RVA23 RISC-V profile on the Milk-V Jupiter 2.
Who each one is for
Take the Banana Pi BPI-M5 Pro for edge AI and network appliance projects needing dual Ethernet and solid onboard NPU performance on a budget. It is the wrong buy for serious ML training or inference workloads, the Jetson Orin Nano Super offers far more raw compute for that. Take the Milk-V Jupiter 2 for RISC-V enthusiasts who want a board that behaves like a real desktop/NAS PC, not just a dev kit. It also earns its place with home-lab or edge-networking builds that want 10GbE SFP+ without going full x86. Avoid it for anyone who needs GPIO pins for physical computing or robotics projects. Our rating of the Banana Pi BPI-M5 Pro (7/10): A budget-friendly edge AI and network appliance board with dual Ethernet and a capable 6 TOPS NPU. Our rating of the Milk-V Jupiter 2 (7/10): the most usable K3 RISC-V board so far, thanks to real OS support and a 10GbE port most SBCs don't have. Still, the 60 TOPS NPU figure is unverified marketing until independent reviewers get hold of it.
