Acer Chromebook Plus 515 Review

Acer Chromebook Plus 515 CB515-2H, Intel Core i3-1215U, 8GB LPDDR5X soldered, 128GB soldered storage, 15.6 inch FHD IPS 60Hz display, ChromeOS, Wi-Fi 6E.

A Chromebook Plus-certified 15.6-inch machine: everything is soldered, memory and storage both, which is standard for the class but worth knowing before buying.

Performance

Intel Core i3-1215U (6 cores) with integrated Intel UHD Graphics. Meets the Chromebook Plus performance tier for ChromeOS, web apps and Android apps via Google Play.

Upgradability

8GB of LPDDR5X memory (max 16GB across the line) and 128GB of flash storage are both soldered to the board with zero slots, nothing on this machine is field-upgradeable, which is typical for ChromeOS hardware in this price class.

Battery life

Acer's spec page for this SKU does not list a battery Wh figure; ChromeOS devices in this class typically target all-day light use.

Display

15.6-inch 1920x1080 IPS panel with a matte finish at 60Hz.

Design and ports

Wi-Fi 6E (Intel AX211) with Bluetooth. Acer's spec sheet for this configuration does not list weight or a detailed port map.

Expert rating6.5 / 10

The Chromebook Plus 515 pairs a Core i3-1215U with 8GB of LPDDR5X, a 15.6 inch 1080p IPS screen and WiFi 6E. It suits students and households that live in the browser and want a simple, managed ChromeOS laptop.

Storage is only 128GB with no extra slot, and the RAM is soldered, so there is no upgrade path. It also has no Thunderbolt and cannot run Windows or macOS software.

Best for

  • Students and light users who live mostly in the browser
  • Households wanting a low-maintenance, managed ChromeOS device
  • Buyers who value Google AI features bundled into Chromebook Plus

Not for

  • Anyone needing Windows or macOS software compatibility
  • Power users who need more than 8GB RAM or expandable storage
  • Offline-heavy workflows, ChromeOS assumes frequent connectivity
