Dell S2721DGF Review

Dell S2721DGF 27-inch QHD IPS gaming monitor with 165Hz refresh rate, 1ms GTG response time, 95% DCI-P3 coverage, DisplayHDR 400 and G-Sync Compatible certification.

The S2721DGF is Dell's long-running proof that a gaming monitor doesn't need flashy RGB branding to be excellent. It's a straightforward, well-calibrated IPS panel that consistently lands on best-value lists because it does the fundamentals, speed, color, and build quality, right without cutting corners anywhere obvious.

Why It Still Holds Up

Dell's factory calibration is notably tighter than most competitors at this price, so colors look accurate right out of the box. The panel also handles both G-Sync and FreeSync without issue, and Dell's three-year premium panel exchange warranty adds peace of mind rarely matched by other gaming monitor brands.

Where It Falls Short

DisplayHDR 400 is the entry tier of HDR certification and doesn't meaningfully improve contrast over SDR. The design is also fairly plain, without the RGB lighting or aggressive styling some gaming-focused buyers expect.

Comparison to Alternatives

Against the LG 27GP850-B, the Dell offers a stronger warranty and comparable performance, though LG's Nano IPS coating edges out slightly wider color coverage. Compared to the ASUS TUF Gaming VG27AQ, the S2721DGF matches its refresh rate closely while typically offering tighter factory color calibration.
